SheCanDo was founded in April 2023 by Olaide Akinleye, a young tech entrepreneur, web developer and Youth/Gender Equality Activist.
Olaide's journey began as a young girl, influenced by her mother's resilience. Her father had relocated to Ukraine before she was born, and it took nine long years before their family could reunite. During those years, Olaide watched her mother navigate life's challenges, relying on her tailoring skills to make ends meet. Witnessing her mother's determination and strength, Olaide was inspired to become not just a force to be reckoned with but a source of positive change in her world.

In 2017, Olaide found herself as a pre-degree student at Futa, struggling to sustain herself by selling Gala snacks due to her family's financial crisis. One fateful day, she stumbled upon a flier with the words "Code for free" lying in the gutter. This discovery transformed her life. Olaide secured a scholarship to learn web development and started creating websites. As a second-year university student, she launched her startup, JuniperLabs, and developed her first product – a delivery website used by students at her school. Subsequently, she introduced two more products, MyInsure, an online insurance platform, and Idencia, an identity management service.

In 2023, Olaide decided to initiate a movement that would empower women not only to achieve greatness but also to become catalysts for change in their communities. This vision led her to create SheCanDo, a community dedicated to empowering women, breaking down gender barriers, and championing gender equality and inclusivity in the workplace. Today, SheCanDo continues to inspire and uplift women, just as Olaide was once inspired to change the course of her own life.
